Cool and refreshing, a classic white wine spritzer is simple and sophisticated. Here’s how to make it.
Summer’s here and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a refreshing white wine spritzer.
Let’s make one …

I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, so a spritzer is the ideal option and my go-to cocktail.

There are as many versions of a spritzer as your imagination allows.
Here’s my recipe for a Classic White Wine Spritzer.

Classic White Wine Spritzer, serves 1
4 oz white wine, chilled
4oz fizzy water
Lime wheel
Pour chilled wine and fizzy water into a glass.
Add ice if you like.
Garnish with a slice of lime.

When it comes to fizzy water, I prefer sparkling water, but soda water or a flavored sparking water are also great options.

Refreshing and light … a Classic White Wine Spritzer is a perfect year-round cocktail.

Regarding garnishes, let the characteristics of your wine choice dictate the appropriate garnish. I love a dry, citrusy Sauvignon Blanc which pairs well with lemon or lime garnish. Don’t get caught up in all the wine snobbery gobbleygook … garnish with impunity. Citrus wheels, strawberries, Martha Stewart suggests melon balls and she’d never steer us wrong.

Hi Juliet,
My drink of choice when we are out is usually a white wine spritzer! Amazing how many times I’ve had to describe exactly what I want to the server!! (Don’t get me started on what usually happens when I order a Kir Royale!)
Good job on the new blog, and looking forward to reading more! You look so pretty in all the photos, your color scheme suites you so well!
XO Heidi
Heidi – you’re so sweet, thank you. My husband works in the wine industry. I used to as well. People are so snobby about wine and for so long I was embarrassed to order a spritzer. Then one day I said … no more … who cares what they think! Make mine a spritzer! And, that is how I got my name. Now, tell me … what do they do to mangle your Kir Royale?! xo
You are going to laugh, but I forgot how much I enjoy a wine spritzer because it is such a light option, and limes are a must! I am having a social distanced girls get together tomorrow afternoon, and guess what I’m bringing!
Wonderful! I’m thrilled I could jog your memory about this wonderful, light drink. Cheers! xo
No, I didn’t know you were starting a blog on home design. The site is well done and has plenty of photos to help us see the results of your work and color selections. Great job!
Thank you! And, now you know. xo
