Festive Cranberry Tequila Punch, your go-to holiday cocktail recipe!

Our son and his wife gave me the best book for my birthday … Cocktails: Modern Favorites to Make at Home from William Sonoma.
It was a well timed gift as I was in search of holiday cocktail inspiration. I opened the book to Cranberry Tequila Punch and the rest is history.

Cocktails: Modern Favorites to Make at Home
Cranberry Tequila Punch for the Holidays
As written, the recipe serves 18 and fills a large punch bowl with a traditional ice mold floating in the center. Old school … and so fun.
I’m not hosting any large gatherings this year, and reduced the recipe to serve 4-6 (generously).

The punch is super easy to make.

Start with apple and cranberry juices, then add Reposado Tequila and Prosecco (or any sparkling wine).

Next add Cointreau and Grand Marnier.

Stir everything together, tossing in orange slices and cranberries to make it pretty.
Make a festive garnish of rosemary sprig cranberry skewers for the glasses.

Skewering cranberries is easier said than done, here’s a tip …
Spear the cranberries first with a metal cocktail pick before attempting to thread them onto the rosemary sprigs. You’ll need to remove the lower leaves on the sprig to make room for the cranberries.

Cranberry Tequila Punch is so delicious and it’s become one of our annual holiday favorites.
Whether mixed in a punch bowl with a festive ice mold (create ice mold in bundt pan) …
Or a smaller batch mixed in pretty pitcher …
I bet it will become one of your favorites too!

The recipe below is about a quarter of the full recipe and serves 4-6 depending on generosity of your glass.

Ingredients
Method
- Stir together all ingredients in pitcher. Add orange slices and cranberries to your liking.
- Make garnish by stringing cranberries onto rosemary stems. Spear cranberries first with a cocktail pick, this will make it a lot easier to get them oto the stems.
- Pour punch into festive glasses over ice, place garnish on top of glass.
Cheers!

Do you own a punch bowl? When I first published this recipe I did a poll and 80% of my respondents said yes! A punch bowl featured prominently at my parents parties in the 1970’s and I feel like it was the exact same punch bowl I saw at all my friends homes. It was quite similar to this one I found at Replacements Ltd. Vintage and second hand stores are great places to find punch bowls, as is Etsy and the usual online sources. I’ve got a crush on this punch bowl, champagne bucket … very elegant. My mom kept punch bowl, and the matching cups, in it’s original box in the garage. But there’s no reason to hide them away, punch bowls make great vessels for all kinds of things and can be festive for the holidays with or without punch. I fill mine with magnolia leaves and a few gilded faux stems … you can see if here in along with the rest of our library holiday decor. During the rest of the year the punch bowl holds orchids tucked in with a layer of reindeer moss.

So there you have it, Cranberry Tequila Punch, a holiday crowd pleaser.

I have a beautiful vintage anchor glass, colonial pattern, pedastal punch bowl with hanging cups that I found at a flea market years ago. I had it set up on my dining room sideboard for years. It was obviously used for punch, (champagne punch was a favorite). I used to decorate it for the different seasons, (poinsettias at Christmas, etc). It was borrowed frequently. It was such a statement piece and I loved it. Still have it packed away in it’s original box.
That sounds like a special piece … and gorgeous! I love champagne punch … it’s very festive. Using a punch bowl for displaying flowers is a great idea. When I go on the hunt for a vintage bowl next year I’m going to make sure it works for flowers (especially holiday poinsettias)! xo
