Summer’s here and I’ve got some fresh and stylish ideas for your outdoor spaces. If you love green and white, this is your inspiration guide.
Our patio is open for summer! It’s been a long, wet winter and spring, but Memorial Day is here and it’s time to get summer ready.
With Memorial Day sales underway there’s no better time to update and refresh your outdoor spaces.

After flirting with changing up our summer patio color scheme, frugality got the better of me and I’m sticking with our green and white pillows and outdoor decor. With a few new additions, of course.

Let’s talk about green and white. The past few years it seems to have fallen out of favor with my favorite outdoor pillow and decor sources. I’d all but given up when this year’s summer catalogs started to arrive. Green and white is back. And I’m leaning in.
If green and white’s not your thing don’t worry, nearly everything I’m sharing is available in other colors too.
Serena & Lily – Splendor in the Grass
Memorial Day Sale up to 30% off everything, plus free shipping on clearance!
Serena & Lily introduced this pretty French striped fabric along with an assortment of grass-green print and striped pillows. And their popular Eastport umbrella can be trimmed in green.

What a winning combination … French stripe cushions plus Reef and Veracruz pillows. And a dab of blue for good measure.

This Coastal stripe pillow is a fabulous too.
Throw a little texture into the mix with this Salerno raffia pillow. It has a herringbone weave AND pom poms. The addition of a neutral or textured pillow into the scheme will have a grounding effect that I love.
A couple of notes ~
- Serena & Lily pillow covers are just that … covers. They sell outdoor pillow inserts separately.
- The Reef pillow cover isn’t an outdoor fabric.
Ballard Designs Kiwi Green
Memorial Day Sale 20% – 40% off sitewide & free shipping on outdoor!
Ballard Designs has a collection of pretty greens they call Kiwi. Insert me into this poolside scene featuring Ballard’s Ceylon teak collection.
Don’t you love these striped umbrellas shading the chaise lounges? We have a set of these Amalfi chaises, and I log a considerable amount time there during the summer. We also have three of the classic garden stools in white (it’s not a white white). One can never have too many garden stools and I’m tempted to add the Kiwi green.
Note ~ Many of Ballard Designs pillows do come with pillow inserts, so be sure to double check.
West Elm’s Softer Take on Green
Memorial Day Sale up to 40-60% off and extra 20% off clearance with code EXTRA20!
Prefer a little subtlety with your green? West Elm has you covered.

Their Surf Shack trio takes the guess work out of pillow styling. And it has me rethinking my in-your-face greens. Hmmm.

I adore all these patterns and textures. So good.
More fun stuff for your summer patio ~
Don’t forget to cover it ~
Our patio cushions and pillows have been out for a few weeks and of course it rained since then. Depending on your climate, outdoor furniture covers can be a necessity. We use ours at night through June. Sometimes July. Fog creeps over the hill and it can get pretty damp overnight. It’s also nice to have covers for the winter months, and to protect from dropping tree sap and … bird. I learned the hard way to purchase covers with the furniture. But if you didn’t, there are plenty of options for generic covers. Ballard Designs has a good selection here. And Frontage has them here.

Loved your patio ideas! We moved into our new home last June and I finally got around to decorating the screened in patio. I’ve gone big with pillows and accessories in the bright green and white with some raffia thrown in to tone it down. Even my planters have green and white flowers. I don’t regret the brighter green at all because it looks beautiful with the wood furniture and against the grass, palm trees, and water behind the house. Now I just need my husband to put up the fans because it’s getting too warm to sit out there on a day without a breeze.
Kelly, that sounds so lovely. I hope you’re enjoying it this holiday weekend and it’s not too warm.I adore the idea of a screened porch. Of course in California we don’t really need it … but it sounds very romantic and so fun to have an indoor/outdoor space to decorate. xo
Juliet, I love the green and white color scheme, it looks natural and blends in and lets the rest of the patio and garden shine.
I cannot wait to check out all of these fabulous links!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth! xo
I love your color palette! It’s fresh and oh so beautiful on your outdoor patio. I’ve had green most of my adult life with the exception of our house in WA and here in Scottsdale I have blue with a sprinkle of greens. Plus my hubby will kill me if he sees an S/L box arrive. Well not really he loves what I do.
Enjoyed your summer post
Hi Jessica, thanks so much. I hope your pups are on the mend. xo
I’m with you on the green and white. Love, love, love it. Beautiful backyard!
Linda! Thanks you … I knew it was the right choice! xo
Juliet love your patio so much. The greens have always been so appealing with your beautiful plants and flowers. I think the Ballard umbrellas are tops. We have three of those in the black and cream stripe and they have lasted years and still look good. I think the green is extra pretty! Hope you get to enjoy it this weekend. It’s feeling chilly here.
I think I need a new pillow from your selections! xo
Thanks, Kim. I need to get over to HG and see if those pretty throws you found are there. Probably not, but hope springs eternal. I hope it warms up enough so you can sit under one of those pretty Ballard umbrellas! xo
Juliet-I’ve been out of town without internet, so I’m catching up on my reading. Green and white is my favorite combination for outside! I love that it adds to the garden atmosphere instead of competing with it. Your patio looks so spa-like! I think you’ll certainly spend a few hours there throughout the summer. Enjoy what’s left of the long weekend.
